Orange City is celebrating Hispanic heritage in Sioux County by hosting the sixth annual Festival Latino on Wednesday, June 28, at Windmill Park. The festival is one of the featured events of Orange City Arts’ Onstage Orange City season. Festival Latino is a celebration of diversity, using arts and crafts, authentic Latino cuisine, musical entertainment, and games for kids. The fun begins at 5 pm with activities that include face painting, mural paintings, a bouncy castle, a pinata bust, a soccer challenge, a Mayan/Aztec pavilion, and more. the high-energy Orquesto Alto Maiz Latino musical group takes stage at 7 pm. All attendees are invited to wear traditional clothing from their country of origin (with prizes given for the best outfits). Activities are free, and food is available for purchase at a small cost.
All are invited to a groundbreaking for 4 Brothers Bar & Grill in Sioux Center on Wednesday, June 28 at 9:30am. The new restaurant will be constructed just west of the Holiday Inn Express in southern Sioux Center by a group of local investors. Brothers Clint and Nathan Kass, of the Le Mars 4 Brothers Bar & Grill, will own and operate the Sioux Center restaurant. 4 Brothers Bar & Grill is Sioux Center will be at 50 St. Andrews Way, Sioux Center. Construction is anticipated to begin this summer.
The Great Plains Zoo will be visiting the Sioux Center Library on Thursday, June 29 from 10:30 – 11:30am. Parents, take your child to meet some to the cool animals!
Registration for the Western Christian FFA Tractor Ride begins Saturday, July 1, at 8 a.m. in the north parking lot at Western Christian. The ride will begin in Hull at 8:30 a.m., go to neighboring towns and back to Hull. The $30 per person registration fee includes the ride, a snack, lunch in Inwood and a tractor ride cap. Village Northwest is excited to announce the schedule for their annual Independence Day Celebration to be held Monday, July 3, 2017. The Independence Day Celebration is the largest event of the year at Village Northwest Unlimited and provides a family friendly environment.
The food court opens at 5:00pm featuring vendors including Hy-Vee, Kelly’s Catering, Pizza Ranch, and Subway. Activities for all ages begin at 6:00pm including fire truck rides, carnival games, petting zoo, pony rides, horse drawn wagon rides, and more. New activities this year include life size games such as human foosball, 9-square, and jenga. At 7:00pm, The Mud Dogs Band will take the outdoor stage. They are a Twin-Cities band that plays from a song list of over 200 tunes ranging from crowd favorites like “I Saw Her Standing There” by the Beatles to “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond to more modern day country songs by Little Big Town and Jason Aldean.
The evening concludes with the area’s largest fireworks display, beginning approximately at 10:00pm.

Jake and Sharon Rens will display their collection of John Deere Tractors at their rural residence Fourth of July Weekend. His collection of rarer models such as a 1924 D and unusual tractors, not commonly seen in northwest Iowa. He has several General Purpose Orchard tractors. The Rens encourage young and all to come enjoy a day in the country, swapping stories and memories at the same time making memories and friends.
