Hope Haven’s 54th Annual Society Meeting will be held at Hope Haven in Rock Valley on Tuesday, October 23, at 1:00pm. Society members will have the opportunity to elect board members, review recent audit and budgets, and receive the annual report on the ministry of Hope Haven. Hope Haven is a society owned agency; therefore you are encourage to exercise your membership and become involved in the business of Hope Haven.
New Life Church will be providing a Pancake and Bacon Supper to support Youth Mission Trips. There will be a Freewill donation at the event.
Sioux Center Health is providing a Preventing Diabetes Class. Come and learn from our diabetes nurse and dietitian on how to lower your chance of getting diabetes by being active, losing weight, and making better food choices. Richard and Betty Odgaard will be the featured guests at Pizza & Policy on Thursday, October 25th. Sioux County Conservatives is hosting the event at the Sioux Center Pizza Hut. The meeting begins at 7 PM. There will be media availability with the Odgaards beginning at 6:30 PM. Media is encouraged to attend.
Arts at the All Seasons Center is coming up! Events include face painting, Pumpkin Decorating for all ages, juggling lessons, and so much more! The cost is $2 at the door and $6 for families. It is open to the public. You must provide your own pumpkin and vendors may charge for their services/goods.
The Heritage Protestant Reformed Church in Sioux Falls will be hosting a lecture in Hull. Professor Douglass Kuiper from the Protestant Reformed Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan will be speaking on the topic “The Controversy Regarding Sovereign Grace: The Synod of Dordt and Its Relevance for Today.” If you are unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available.
The Science and Faith Club at Dordt College is bringing in two speakers to talk about Origins this fall. The speakers, Todd Wood and Darrel Falk, are two well-known Christian scientists with differing perspectives on origins. Todd is a Young-Earth Creationist and Darrel Falk is an Evolutionary-Creationist, and both have maintained a long-term friendship despite their differences. They will be demonstrating an uplifting, Christian conversation on topics like the age of the Earth and the genesis of human-kind. The community is invited to the joint recital of Dordt College seniors Kourtney TeBrake, soprano, and Karissa Van Surksum, trumpet. The free recital will be held on Friday, October 26, at 7:30pm in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. A public reception will follow.
