My name is Jessica Cheney and I’m from Carroll, Iowa. I graduated as valedictorian of Carroll High School’s class of 2015. At Home, I went to Renew Covenant Church and worked as a checker at HyVee. Here in Sioux Center, I go to Christ Community Church and work here at KDCR. I was involved in a lot of activities in high school including soccer, theatre, and music, but the only one of those that I’m still involved in here at Dordt is Choir and Band. I love to travel, but haven’t gone on any specific missions trips. However, I have a few planned in the next few years.
What is your year and major at Dordt College?
Junior Animal Science Pre-Vet Major, with a KSP and Chemistry minor
Considering someone other than the Lord, your parents, and members of your family—who is the most influential person in your life at this time?
I would say my science professors here at Dordt, cause they’re teaching me how I can glorify God while studying His creation.
What has God called you to do after graduation?
First I want to go to Veterinary School at Iowa State University, but after I graduate from Vet school I hope to work as a small-animal veterinarian somewhere in the Midwest.
How has your work at KDCR 88.5 inspired you?
I love just getting to come into work and get to listen to such inspiring music and knowing I get to share this music with the public.
In a short statement, what would you say to the supporters of KDCR 88.5?
Thank you so much for your support! Because of you, we can keep providing such uplifting music all the time and reach out to people through the airwaves.
