The Chair of the Iowa Utilities Board says they are monitoring the power supply problems in the Midwest.
Geri Huser told a news conference Wednesday the Board is working to assure the power supply isn’t disrupted in Iowa.
Huser says power suppliers for some municipal utilities are asking for the cutbacks.
Heavy demand wrought by the bitterly cold weather of late have brought on electricity shortages. Huser says that does not include all utilities.
Sioux Center municipal utilities is asking customers to reduce electric demand for the next couple of days. Huser says state officials and utilities have been monitoring the situation for the past week, as temperatures dropped below zero for an extended number of days.
