Iowa lawmakers may consider changes in how government responds to a pandemic. State Representative Skyler Wheeler of Orange City says there will be a move to amend the state’s emergency powers statute.
Wheeler says current rules on authority during health emergencies didn’t anticipate the scope of restrictions that went into effect during the outbreak.

There was criticism during the pandemic that the Governor and the Department of Health wielded too much power in how they administered the coronavirus pandemic.
