The US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue was in Iowa this week to announce investment in biofuels delivery. Yesterday, Perdue told a crowd in Mason City that $22 million would be used to help retailers pump more E-15 and biodiesel fuels.
Perdue says biofuels supporters won a victory earlier this year with the guarantee of selling E-15 blended fuels year-round, but they must upgrade the distribution system to get it to the consumer.
Grants will be made to retailers to install blender pumps and storage tanks for biofuels. The Iowa investment is part of a nationwide, $100 million USDA program to improve biofuels infrastructure.
