The cold weather is putting great pressure on natural gas prices. Gas is the chief source of heat for homes in the Midwest. Matt Van Schouwen, Orange City’s public works director, says the massive cold snap is creating huge demand for gas.
The price of gas to meet immediate needs has skyrocketed.
The spot gas price rose exponentially because of the huge demand.
Van Schouwen says so far, there has been no shortage of gas supply. That’s because the contractors which provide the gas make sure it arrives promptly to the communities which contract it.
