A bill passed from the House Judiciary Committee would remove certain low-level felonies from a person’s record. State Rep Skyler Wheeler of Orange City, a member of the Judiciary committee, says it will remove what could be a permanent scar on a person’s record.
Wheeler recognizes that offenders can change over time.
Wheeler says some mistakes by young people shouldn’t dog them for the rest of their lives.
These feloney convictions for non-violent cirmes would be removed form a person’s record if there are no more convictions over a ten year period. The bill is to be taken up by the full House.
