Prairie Ridge Care center in Orange City Iowa is the location of a potential outbreak of COVID-19. The Iowa Department of Public Health classifies an outbreak as three or more cases in a long-term care facility. So far, a Prairie Ridge staff member and resident have tested positive.
Marty Guthmiller, CEO of Orange City Area Health System, gave a message on the OCAHS Facebook page. He spoke at length about how they plan to test all residents, and should they come up positive, they will reach outbreak status. However, they are already treating it as such.
All visits to the facility, both outdoor and open window, have been stopped, but Guthmiller noted that there are virtual options.
